About the Subtitle Burner

Subtitle Burner adds open captions straight onto your footage so the text shows on every player, every platform, and even when the sound is off. Type captions on a timeline or import an existing .srt or .vtt file, style the font size, color, outline and position, then burn them permanently into the video. Everything runs locally in your browser with WebAssembly FFmpeg — your video never leaves your device.

Subtitle Burner FAQ

What is the difference between burned-in and soft subtitles?
Burned-in (open) captions are drawn permanently onto the video frames, so they appear on any player — social apps, TVs, anything. Soft subtitles are a separate track viewers can switch off, which not every player supports. This tool burns them in.
Can I import an existing SRT or VTT file?
Yes. Click Import .srt / .vtt and the cues and timings load into the editor, where you can edit the text and restyle before burning.
Will the subtitles show on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube?
Yes — because the captions are burned into the picture, they display everywhere, including on feeds that autoplay without sound.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser with WebAssembly FFmpeg, so your video stays on your device.
What video formats can I use?
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and M4V up to 1 GB. The output is an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio that plays everywhere.
Can I change the subtitle font and position?
Yes. You can set the font size, text color, outline color, bold, an optional background box, and place captions at the bottom, middle or top of the frame.
