About the Sort lines

Sort lines reorders a list any way you need: alphabetically A→Z or Z→A, in natural numeric order (so item2 comes before item10), by line length, reversed, or shuffled into a random order. Add case-insensitive comparison and one-click duplicate removal to get a clean, ordered list. Ideal for keyword lists, imports, names, and config files — processed instantly in your browser with nothing uploaded.

Sort lines features

  • 01

    Six ordering modes

A→Z, Z→A, natural/numeric, by length, reverse the current order, or random shuffle — pick from a single dropdown and the result updates live.

  • 02

    Natural numeric sort

Numbers embedded in lines sort in human order (file2 before file10) instead of naive character order, using a locale-aware collator.

  • 03

    Case-insensitive and dedupe

Optionally ignore letter case when sorting and remove duplicate lines in the same pass, so the output is both ordered and unique.

Sort lines FAQ

How do I put a list in alphabetical order?
Paste your list one item per line and choose "A → Z." The lines are sorted alphabetically and the result appears instantly, ready to copy.
What does natural (numeric) sort do?
It sorts numbers the way people expect: "item2" comes before "item10" instead of after it. Regular alphabetical sorting compares character by character and would place "10" before "2."
Can I randomly shuffle lines?
Yes. Pick "Random shuffle" to reorder the lines randomly — useful for randomizing names, questions, or picking an unbiased order. Re-selecting shuffle reshuffles.
Can it sort and remove duplicates at once?
Yes. Turn on "Remove duplicates" and the tool drops repeated lines before sorting, giving you a unique, ordered list in one step.
Is my list sent anywhere?
No. Sorting runs entirely in your browser and your text never leaves the page.
