Sign PDF online features
- 01
Full PDF preview, page by page
Every page is rendered inside the tool so you can see the contract while you sign. Scroll through the document and drop a signature exactly where it's needed — no more printing, scanning or guessing coordinates.
- 02
Draw or type your signature
Sign with your mouse, trackpad, stylus or finger — or type your name and pick a cursive, italic or typewriter style. Resize, reposition and duplicate the signature across pages with a click.
- 03
100% private — nothing uploaded
The PDF is parsed, previewed and re-signed entirely in your browser using PDF.js and pdf-lib. Your document never touches a server, so even confidential agreements are safe to sign here.
Sign PDF online FAQ
- How do I sign a PDF online for free?
- Drop your PDF into this page, draw or type your signature in the sidebar, then drag the signature onto the exact spot on the page. Click "Sign & download" and a signed PDF is saved to your device — no account, no watermark.
- Is my document uploaded anywhere when I sign it?
- No. The entire signing process — loading, previewing, signing and exporting — runs in your browser. Handytool never sees the file. You can verify this by going offline after the PDF loads; signing still works.
- Can I place the signature on any page, not just the last one?
- Yes. The preview shows every page. Click any page to focus it, add a signature, and drag it anywhere — multiple signatures on multiple pages are supported. You can also apply one signature to every page with a single click.
- Can I type my name instead of drawing a signature?
- Yes. Switch to the Type tab, enter your name, and choose a cursive, italic or typewriter style. The typed signature is rendered as an image with a transparent background and embedded in the PDF just like a drawn one.
- Is a signed PDF legally valid?
- For everyday use — contracts, internal approvals, NDAs, forms — a drawn or typed signature placed on a PDF is widely accepted as an electronic signature. For documents that require qualified e-signatures by law (like some government filings), use a regulated e-signature provider.
- Does the tool work on phones and tablets?
- Yes. The canvas and overlay use pointer events, so you can draw and reposition signatures with a finger or stylus on iOS and Android. Tap a page to focus it, then drag your signature into place.
