Supports .fb2 and .fb2.zip — files stay on your device.

About the FB2 to EPUB

Drop in an .fb2 or .fb2.zip file and Handytool turns it into a clean EPUB you can read on Apple Books, Kobo, PocketBook, Calibre, or send to Kindle via email. Chapters, cover art, embedded illustrations, author and language metadata are all carried over. Because the conversion happens locally with WebAssembly and the standard browser ZIP tools, your book never leaves your device — useful for unfinished manuscripts, paid copies, or anything you would rather not upload to a random online converter.

FB2 to EPUB features

  • 01

    Preserves chapters, cover and images

Top-level FB2 sections become EPUB chapters with a working table of contents. The cover image is recognised and shown first, and embedded illustrations are repackaged into the EPUB so the result looks the same as the source.

  • 02

Handles .fb2 and .fb2.zip out of the box

Most FB2 books on the web ship as .fb2.zip archives. The converter unpacks the archive, detects the FB2 inside, reads the declared XML encoding (UTF-8, Windows-1251, etc.) and produces a valid EPUB 2 ready for any modern reader.

  • 03

    100% private, runs offline

Files are parsed and rezipped entirely in JavaScript inside your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored on a server, and the page keeps working after you go offline.

FB2 to EPUB FAQ

How do I convert an FB2 file to EPUB?
Drop your .fb2 or .fb2.zip file into the upload area and click Convert. The tool parses the FictionBook XML, extracts the cover and images, and packs everything into a standard EPUB you can download in one click.
Will my book stay private?
Yes. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. The file is never uploaded to a server — it is read directly from your device and the EPUB is built locally.
Does the EPUB work on Kindle?
Modern Kindles accept EPUB via the Send to Kindle email or app. If you need a Kindle-native format, send the EPUB Handytool produces to your @kindle.com address and Amazon will convert it on their side.
Does it support .fb2.zip archives?
Yes. The converter automatically unpacks .fb2.zip files and uses the FB2 inside. You can drop the archive directly without extracting it first.
Are images and the cover preserved?
Yes. Embedded binary elements in the FB2 (cover and illustrations) are extracted, attached to the EPUB manifest, and referenced from the chapters so they render in any EPUB reader.
Which EPUB version does it produce?
The output is EPUB 2 with an NCX table of contents — the most broadly compatible format, supported by Apple Books, Kobo, PocketBook, Calibre, Google Play Books and Send to Kindle.
