About the PDF to Text

Handytool's PDF to Text extractor pulls the selectable text out of any PDF so you can copy, edit, or reuse it without retyping. It keeps the reading order page by page and lets you add separators between pages, then copy the result or download a plain .txt file. The whole thing happens in your browser, which makes it a safe way to lift text from invoices, contracts, and research papers.

PDF to Text FAQ

Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Only if the PDF contains real, selectable text. Scanned PDFs are images of pages, so there's no text layer to extract — you'd need OCR for those.
Will it keep the formatting?
It preserves reading order and line breaks, but not fonts, columns, or styling. The output is clean plain text that's easy to paste anywhere.
Can I separate the text by page?
Yes. Keep the page separator option on and the tool inserts a break between each page so you can see where one ends and the next begins.
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser — your file is never uploaded to a server.
