Business Days Calculator
Count the working days between two dates, or add and subtract business days to find a deadline — weekends and public holidays excluded, with US, UK, German and French presets.
Presets follow each country's published rule, so they stay correct for any year.
Company closures or national holidays not in the presets. Separate dates with commas or spaces, in YYYY-MM-DD form.
All date maths runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

About the Business Days Calculator
This business days calculator answers the two questions that come up every time a deadline is set: how many working days between two dates, and what date falls a given number of business days from today. It skips weekends and public holidays, so a ten-business-day turnaround lands on the date your team will actually hit rather than the one a plain calendar suggests. Weekends are configurable — Saturday–Sunday, Friday–Saturday, or Sunday only — and you can layer on a national holiday preset plus any company closure days of your own. Every calculation runs locally in your browser; no dates are uploaded.
Business Days Calculator features
- 01
Working days between two dates
Pick a start and end date to get the number of business days in the range, alongside total calendar days, weekend days and holidays lost. A toggle controls whether the start date itself is counted, so the result matches your contract's wording.
- 02
Add or subtract business days
Enter a start date and a number of working days to find the exact deadline, delivery date or lead-time date. Weekends and holidays are stepped over automatically, and the result shows the weekday plus how many calendar days it actually spans.
- 03
Your weekend, your holidays
Choose a Saturday–Sunday, Friday–Saturday or Sunday-only weekend, add a US, UK, German or French public-holiday preset, and paste in any extra closure dates. Holidays that fall inside the range are listed so you can see exactly what was deducted.
Business Days Calculator FAQ
- How many business days are there between two dates?
- Select the two dates and the calculator counts every day in the range that is not a weekend or a public holiday. It also shows the total calendar days, how many of those were weekend days, and which holidays fell inside the range, so you can check the number rather than just trust it.
- What counts as a business day?
- By default a business day is Monday to Friday, excluding any public holiday you have enabled. If your working week runs Sunday to Thursday, switch the weekend setting to Friday–Saturday; if you work six days, choose Sunday only. The count updates immediately.
- What date is 10 business days from today?
- Switch to the add mode, leave the start date as today, and enter 10. The calculator steps forward day by day, skipping weekends and holidays, and shows the resulting date with its weekday. Use subtract to work backwards from a fixed deadline to the date you need to start.
- Does the result include the start and end date?
- The end date is always included. The start date is controlled by the "count the start date" toggle, which is on by default — that matches phrasing like "you have five working days from today". Turn it off for contracts that count from the day after the trigger date.
- Which public holidays does it know about?
- The presets cover the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and France. Each one is derived from the published rule — a fixed date, an n-th weekday of the month, or an offset from Easter — so it stays correct for any year instead of relying on a table that goes stale. Countries whose holidays are announced annually by decree, including China's public holidays and its make-up working days, cannot be derived that way, so add those dates in the custom field.
- Is this the same as the NETWORKDAYS function in Excel?
- The between mode does the same job as NETWORKDAYS, and the add mode matches WORKDAY. The difference is that you can change the weekend pattern and paste holidays in without building a separate range in a spreadsheet.
