Work Hours Calculator
Add up a week of hours worked from clock-in and clock-out times, subtract breaks, split regular from overtime, and convert the total to decimal hours for payroll.
Leave a day empty if you did not work it. An end time at or before the start time is treated as an overnight shift.
Hours beyond this count as overtime.
Optional — in your own currency.

About the Work Hours Calculator
This work hours calculator turns a week of clock-in and clock-out times into the numbers payroll actually asks for. Enter start and end times for each day, subtract an unpaid lunch break in minutes, and the weekly total appears in both hours-and-minutes and decimal form. Set the point where overtime begins and the total splits into regular and overtime hours, with an optional hourly rate and overtime multiplier to estimate gross pay. Overnight shifts that cross midnight are handled, weekday names follow your language, and your timesheet is saved in your own browser rather than on a server.
Work Hours Calculator features
- 01
A full week on one screen
Seven rows of start time, end time and unpaid break minutes, with the hours for each day calculated as you type. Fill the weekdays with one shift in a single click, then adjust the days that were different.
- 02
Regular, overtime and pay
Choose the weekly threshold where overtime starts and the total splits automatically. Add an hourly rate and an overtime multiplier to see estimated gross pay for the week.
- 03
Decimal hours for payroll
Payroll systems want 7.75, not 7:45. The total is shown both ways, along with days worked and the average length of a working day.
Work Hours Calculator FAQ
- How do I calculate hours worked in a week?
- Enter the clock-in and clock-out time for each day and the unpaid break in minutes. Each row shows that day's net hours, and the weekly total updates as you go, in hours and minutes and as a decimal figure.
- How do I subtract a lunch break?
- Put the unpaid break in the break column in minutes — 30 for half an hour, 60 for a full hour. It is deducted from that day only. Paid breaks should be left out, since they count as time worked.
- How do I convert hours and minutes to decimal hours?
- Divide the minutes by 60 and add them to the hours: 7 hours 45 minutes is 7 + 45/60 = 7.75. The calculator shows the decimal total for you, because that is the format most payroll and invoicing systems expect.
- Does it handle night shifts that cross midnight?
- Yes. When the end time is earlier than or equal to the start time, the shift is treated as running into the next day — 22:00 to 06:00 counts as eight hours, not a negative span.
- How is overtime worked out?
- Everything up to the weekly threshold you set counts as regular hours, and anything beyond it is overtime. The default is 40 hours a week; change it to match your contract or local rules. The overtime multiplier, 1.5 by default, is applied only to the overtime portion when estimating pay.
- Is my timesheet stored anywhere?
- It stays in your own browser's local storage so the week is still there when you come back, and nothing is sent to a server. Clearing your browser data or using the clear button removes it.
