About the Tip calculator

Handytool's tip calculator figures out the gratuity, total and per-person share of any bill. How do I calculate a 20% tip?
Type the bill amount and tap the 20% preset (or drag the slider to 20). The tool displays the tip amount and the new total right away. Set the number of people splitting to see the per-person share.
How much should I tip?
Tipping conventions vary by country. In the US, 15–20% is typical at restaurants; 18% is a common default. In most of Europe, 5–10% is generous. In Japan, tipping is usually not expected. Choose the percentage that fits local custom.
Can I split the bill evenly?
Yes. Set the split to the number of people at the table and the calculator divides the total equally. Enable the round-up toggle if you want each person's share rounded up to a whole unit.
Does it handle different currencies?
Yes. Choose a currency from the drop-down and amounts display in that currency using your browser's locale — so €12,50 or ¥1,200 or $12.50 all render correctly.
Are my bill amounts sent anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Handytool does not store, log or transmit what you type.
