About the Find and replace

Find and replace lets you search any block of text and swap matches in bulk, right in your browser. Switch on match-case or whole-word matching for precise edits, or enable regex mode for powerful pattern replacements with capture groups ($1, $2). A live match counter and a highlighted preview show exactly what will change before you copy the result — and nothing you paste is ever uploaded.

Find and replace features

  • 01

    Full regex with capture groups

Turn on regex mode to match patterns and reference captured groups in the replacement using $1, $2, and so on — the same syntax you'd use in a code editor.

  • 02

    Match case and whole word

Restrict replacements to exact-case matches or whole words only, so "cat" doesn't replace the "cat" inside "category."

  • 03

    Live count and highlighted preview

See how many matches were found and a highlighted preview of every match as you type, so a bulk replace never surprises you.

Find and replace FAQ

How do I replace all occurrences of a word?
Type the word in the Find box and its replacement in the Replace box. Every occurrence is replaced instantly and the count shows how many were changed.
Does it support regular expressions?
Yes. Enable "Regex" to use full JavaScript regular expressions, including character classes, anchors, and capture groups referenced as $1 in the replacement field.
What does whole-word matching do?
It only replaces the search term when it stands alone as a word. With it on, replacing "art" leaves "start" and "party" untouched.
Why does my regex show an error?
The pattern couldn't be compiled — usually an unclosed bracket or group. Fix the syntax and the error clears; until then the text is left unchanged.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Find and replace runs entirely in your browser, so your text and patterns never leave your device.
