How do I calculate my current grade?

Multiply each category's score by its weight, add those together, and divide by the total weight. For example, 92% (40%) + 85% (30%) + 78% (30%) gives about 85.7%. The calculator does this automatically.

What grade do I need on my final exam?

Use the formula: required final = (desired grade − current grade × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. Enter your current grade, the final's weight, and your target and the calculator returns the exact score needed.

What if the required final score is over 100%?

That means your desired grade isn't reachable with this exam alone unless extra credit is available. The calculator flags this so you can set a realistic target.

Do my category weights need to add up to 100%?

Not necessarily — the calculator uses a weighted average, so it works even if weights sum to something other than 100. It also shows your total weight so you can check your syllabus.

Is this grade calculator private?
